讲座内容:Our study is concentrated on nonlineardynamics of wave patterns appearing in excitable media. These patterns play avery important role in diverse physical, chemical or biological processes.Self-organized formation of wave patterns in excitable media represents a broadand intensively developed field of study in nonlinear dynamical systems andhave potential applications, e.g. in cardiology, cell and population physiology.

Target patterns, rigidly rotating and meandering spirals, criticalfingers and wave segments are common spatio-temporal patterns intwo-dimensional excitable media. The main aim of our work is to reveal auniversal mechanism for wave pattern selection in excitable media withdifferent local kinetics. To this aim a free-boundary approach elaboratedearlier should be essentially modified and efficient numerical tools should beelaborated to study pattern formation processes in excitable media, inparticular, under permanently changing parameters and environmental conditions.This can be used to influence the self-organization processes as is illustratedby several examples of the efficient control methods.
